At last, winter has waned and a warm, rainy, beautifully green spring has bloomed! Maybe it’s my background in greenhouse work, or perhaps it’s my passion for creation and seeing ordinary miracles, but I absolutely love this time of year.
Life Updates
In my yard, I’ve already gotten to enjoy an assortment of blooms as forsythia, snowbells, and crocus faded into violets, grape hyacinths, daffodils, and vibrant pink tulips. Teensy green tree leaves and lilacs are beginning to emerge, and the lawn is already peppered with dandelions. Meanwhile, my hens are hard at work, each laying 1-2 eggs in a day while one in particular broods over a dozen brown and blue eggs, all preparing to hatch in another couple weeks. It’s mind-blowing that everything happens according to its purpose and in its own season, year after year, without fail. What a mighty God we serve!

At the start of this past winter, I had made grand mental plans to write a blog post every other week, going through the fruits of the spirit and their impact on my life. While I do still want to go through them, I instead spent those months preparing and fueling my body as change and growth happened inside me. As a chick prepares to hatch or a cotyledon sprouts from a seed, so my sweet baby girl has been kicking, turning, and hiccupping, readying her body for birth come September! And as a hen becomes broody, hunkering down to protect her nest, so I’ve been hunkered down, preparing my mind, body, and heart for all of the changes in my life — both those currently happening and those still on the horizon.

future thoughts
As life has once again gotten away from me as unexpected blessings pop up, I realized and have begun to accept that this blog may be a permanent “back burner” project instead of the thriving, weekly hotspot I often dream of maintaining — at least in this season of my life. That said, I greatly enjoy having a safe place to put my musings and learnings, so while there may be droughts between posts, the rainy seasons will always exist medially.
I believe we’re heading into a rainy season over the coming month or two, as my mood has shifted with the weather and writing has been on my heart again. However, I hesitate to make any concrete plans to do so, as projects across the property also require some attention and the garden calls to me.
Some plans we’re looking to potentially implement during this warm season include catching some bee swarms and moving them to our bee boxes for honey, preparing the back fields, fences, gates, and the barn for a couple dairy cows (potentially getting them a year from now), planting my first season in the garden we have here, and setting up a roadside stand for any excess produce or eggs we don’t want or give to family and friends.
As always, I’ll be sure to post on my Facebook page about any new content from the blog, peppering them into my regular photo updates of the homemaking projects I work on. More than likely, you’ll start seeing posts both here and on Facebook about my pregnancy and motherhood journey as well, especially as my daughter arrives in my arms!
Until Abba lays a new topic on my heart,
