Hey, I’m Kaitlyn! Welcome to my little slice of paradise.
I’m a 23 year old greenhouse worker from the heart of Michigan, here to share my passions with you. I enjoy travel, theology discussions, photography, learning about myself and other people, having new experiences, and
Wait, wait, hold on a minute. This isn’t a shopping list or Instagram bio. Let’s restart, shall we? Ahem…
This past summer, a man in my church asked me where I saw myself in five years. A basic enough question that most everyone would have an answer to, right? Well after an embarrassingly long silence and many attempts on my part to formulate any sort of cohesive answer, he finally gave up with a quiet, “It’s a good thing to think about now and again.”
Why do I bring this up? Because the shortest, most concise, most broad and overlapping answer I can think to give is that I’d really like to live simply. I want a quaint little cottage on the edge of town, a garden of flowers for beauty and to bring joy to those who pass by, and a job where I can use my creativity, preferably to assist others in some way. I hope to travel the world, finding God in the histories, the cultures, the languages, and the foods, knowing that when energy runs out I can retreat back home. I’d love to dry herbs and flowers for soaps, teas, and medicinal tinctures, to make soup and bread to share, to have bees for their honey and pollination, to hear the pitter-patter of tiny feet on my floors, and to not be caught up with the useless or time-wasting things of this world. I want to slow down, to never become complacent with where I am and how I act, and to never stop learning and sharing.
And now we’re here. Before one jumps in and buys a house, they must research and prepare, and before one bakes bread or makes soup, they must ensure they have the ingredients and recipes. I strive to grow, to improve, to dream, and to share. Welcome to my little slice of paradise; my cottage garden café. I do hope you’ll wrap up in your favorite blanket, grab a hot cup of coffee, and join me on this journey of learning, growing, and dreaming.
